Reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
Rhesymau i gredu ym mhŵer y Beibl
‘I was a serving police officer for 30 years. Now, I’m the executive director of the Christian Police Association. I’m proud of our officers. But it’s really difficult being slightly on the side lines, watching your friends and colleagues on the front line.
‘Every day, I read the same verse from the Bible. It’s by my computer all the time. It’s Galatians 6.9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”.
‘This is the most massive encouragement for me, but also for everyone. By staying at home, we are doing good, helping our neighbours, helping the NHS. It’s such an appropriate verse for now.
‘First responders in the emergency services are going to worry. They are short on sleep. They are anxious about their health. Our officers in the UK have found that there’s a reduction in crime and disorder, but there are concerns around a rise in neighbour disputes and domestic abuse. They are dealing with that and thinking about their personal protection as they do it.
‘I’ve shared this verse with our members. I wanted to encourage them. It’s about not becoming weary. That’s the encouragement. Everyone has pulled together, haven’t they? Everyone needs to continue to do that. The restrictions will feel more difficult the longer they are applied. We are social people after all. But, we have to hold on and keep doing the good to save lives.’
'Fe fu’m i’n swyddog yn yr Heddlu am 30 mlynedd, a bellach rwy’n Brif Weithredwr Cymdeithas Gristnogol yr Heddlu. Rwy’n falch dros ben o’n swyddogon ni. Ond mae’n anodd braidd i mi fod yn gorfod sefyll ar yr ochr yn gwylio fy ffrindiau a’m cydweithwyr ar y rheng flaen.
'Bob dydd rwy’n darllen yr un adnod allan o’r Beibl. Mae hi ar fy nghyfrifiadur bob amser. Galatiaid 6,9 yw hi. ‘Gadewch i ni beidio byth â blino ar wneud daioni ac yn yr amser addas fe fyddwn yn medi’r cynhaeaf os byddwn yn dal ati.’
'Mae hi wedi bod yn galondid mawr i mi – ac mae’n adnod hon ar gyfer pawb arall hefyd. Wrth aros adref rydyn ni’n gwneud daioni, yn helpu ein cymdogion, yn helpu’r Gwasanaeth Iechyd. Mae hi’n adnod arbennig o addas ar gyfer ar yr amser hwn.
'Mae’r ymatebwyr cyntaf yn y gwananaethau brys yn mynd i ofidio. Mae nhw’n fyr o gwsg. Mae nhw’n ofidus am eu hechyd eu hunain. Mae’n swyddogion ni yma ym Mhrydain wedi sylwi bod llai o droseddau ac anrhefn, ond twf ym maint y ffraeo rhwng cymdogion a thrais yn y cartref. Mae nhw’n gorfod delio gyda hynnwy ac yn meddwl am eu diogelwch eu hunain tra mae nhw wrthi.
'Rydwi wedi rhannu’r adnod yma gyda’n haelodau am fy mod i am eu hannog a’u calonogi nhw. Mae’r adnod yn son am beidio blino. Dyna’r gefnogaeth i ni. Mae pawb wedi cyd-dynnu ond d’yn nhw? Mae angen i bawb barhau i wneud hynny. Fe fydd y cyfyngiadau yn mynd yn fwy anodd yr hiraf y byddan nhw’n parhau am mai pobl gymdeithasol ydyn ni yn y diwedd. Ond mae’n rhaid i ni ddal ati i wneud daioni er mwyn achub bywydau.'
