My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘Psalm 23 is important to me. I have always loved it, but I came back to it in the last 18 months. In March 2022 I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. It’s terminal. My prognosis was a year to a year-and-a-half, but we don’t know.
‘The diagnosis was very emotional, but I knew I had my faith. I’m not afraid of death, but I knew I would leave a big gap in the lives of people that I love.
‘I’d taken along a friend, who is a nurse. Since then, she and I have enjoyed doing things and have been together a lot more. Unexpectedly, we both realised that we wanted to become a couple. She’s amazing. It was a happy shock when she told me how she felt. We are going to get married this November. We want to be married while I can still stand.
‘It’s God’s will what happens: whether my time does come up soon, or whether I have longer. Psalm 23 sums it all up. It’s the psalm of my life now. I’m so happy. I have been enormously blessed. I’m surrounded by love. It’s amazing. God is truly amazing. Perhaps I will live longer: there’s certainly lots to live for. This psalm shows me that I’m not alone.’

Hebrews 11.1–6 has kind of shaped my life
In 2022, my dad was diagnosed with cancer.

I was about 19. Somebody had given me a book about people’s testimonies.
