My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘I remember talking to my Dad, as an inquisitive teenager, and being worried about what happens to Indian people who were Hindus, who have many gods. My mum was born in India.
‘My Dad told me the verses from John 14.2–6 in which Jesus says, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” I understood that this bridged human difference. It’s not for us to say what people get to heaven.
‘In my imagination, as long as I have hope beyond this world, then it gets me through the ups and downs of life. I’ve had breast cancer. My brother died of muscular dystrophy. But these words have helped shape my worldview. I have a peace on which I can understand how you get to where you might be.’
