Reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
Rhesymau i gredu ym mhŵer y Beibl
‘My obsession with the Bible really stems from a conversation that I had when I was 17. It was a car journey and I was being inquisitive. I wanted to know why it feels like God moves into a neighbourhood in a revival, for all of that passion and zeal to peter out.
‘The key things that came out of that conversation were the need for a personal relationship with Jesus and to understand God’s word and to be nourished by it. Out of that conversation I felt like I had a dream in my mind which was a biblically literate Wales which knew its place in the context of His story but knew what He thinks about things and can apply that to their own lives.
‘I’ve had to unpick what that means in my life. It shapes every day because I am constantly thinking about how I can connect the word of God into a situation. I was a drama and music teacher for 19 years and I adored teaching, but being able to communicate the promises of God: this is the dream.
‘The Bible is significant for the whole globe, not just Wales. It brings healing, wholeness, salvation and it gives context to humanity. I love having time and space to really digest it.
‘Genuinely, I think the 17-year-old me would have had no idea that I would end up doing this. There’s no limit with the Lord. You don’t have to be qualified in the world’s eyes. You just have to have a heart after God. That can open doors.’
‘Mae fy obsesiwn gyda’r Beibl wir yn deillio o sgwrs gefais pan oeddwn yn 17 oed. ‘Roeddwn ar daith car ac yn bod yn chwilfrydig. ‘Roeddwn eisiau gwybod pam ei fod yn teimlo fel bod Duw yn symud i mewn i ardal mewn diwygiad, ac yna i’r holl angerdd a'r sêl fynd.
‘Y pethau allweddol a ddaeth allan o’r sgwrs honno oedd yr angen am berthynas bersonol â Iesu ac i ddeall gair Duw er mwyn cael maeth ganddo. O'r sgwrs honno, ‘roeddwn yn teimlo fod gen i freuddwyd yn fy meddwl lle ‘roedd Cymru fel gwlad yn llythrennog yn y Beibl, ble ‘roedd pobl yn gweld eu lle yng nghyd-destun stori Duw a’n gwybod beth yw barn Duw am bethau ac yn gallu cymhwyso hynny i'w bywydau eu hunain.
‘Rwyf wedi gorfod dad-bacio beth mae hynny’n ei olygu yn fy mywyd. Mae'n siapio bob dydd oherwydd fy mod yn meddwl yn gyson am sut y gallaf gysylltu gair Duw â’r sefyllfa dwi ynddi. ‘Roeddwn i'n athrawes drama a cherddoriaeth am 19 mlynedd ac ‘roeddwn wrth fy modd yn dysgu, ond mae bod yn medru datgan addewidion Duw i bobl: dyma'’r freuddwyd!
‘Mae’r Beibl yn arwyddocaol i’r byd i gyd, nid Cymru yn unig. Mae'n dod ag iachâd, cyfanrwydd, iachawdwriaeth ac mae'n rhoi cyd-destun i ddynoliaeth. ‘Rwyf wrth fy modd yn cael amser i dreulio mewn gwirionedd.
‘Yn wirioneddol,’ nid wyf yn credu bydden i fel y ferch 17 mlwydd oed yna wedi cael unrhyw syniad y byddwn yn gwneud beth dwi’n ei wneud yn y pen draw. Nid oes terfyn gyda'r Arglwydd. Does dim rhaid i chi fod yn gymwysedig yng ngolwg y byd. Mae’n rhaid i chi gael calon ar ôl Duw. Gall hynny agor drysau.”
