My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘My obsession with the Bible really stems from a conversation that I had when I was 17. It was a car journey and I was being inquisitive. I wanted to know why it feels like God moves into a neighbourhood in a revival, for all of that passion and zeal to peter out.
‘The key things that came out of that conversation were the need for a personal relationship with Jesus and to understand God’s word and to be nourished by it. Out of that conversation I felt like I had a dream in my mind which was a biblically literate Wales which knew its place in the context of His story but knew what He thinks about things and can apply that to their own lives.
‘I’ve had to unpick what that means in my life. It shapes every day because I am constantly thinking about how I can connect the word of God into a situation. I was a drama and music teacher for 19 years and I adored teaching, but being able to communicate the promises of God: this is the dream.
‘The Bible is significant for the whole globe, not just Wales. It brings healing, wholeness, salvation and it gives context to humanity. I love having time and space to really digest it.
‘Genuinely, I think the 17-year-old me would have had no idea that I would end up doing this. There’s no limit with the Lord. You don’t have to be qualified in the world’s eyes. You just have to have a heart after God. That can open doors.’
