My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
'I used to be a television presenter and I’m currently in the news room at BBC Radio Solent. I have four children now. They range in age from 8 to 16 years old.
Being a woman and a Mum you are able to reinvent yourself. As a woman, you are used to change. When I had just two children, it was a welcome break to get stuck into church and the Bible. I have found great peace in that. I get up early, at 5.30am to read my Bible. It’s my absolute joy.
Having done the early shift for years I am used to it. When I was growing up, I had a bookmark above my bed with a beautiful picture of a raindrop on a leaf. It had the words from Deuteronomy 32.2, “Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants."
That verse has turned into an over-arching path for my life. The times that I am happiest are when I am teaching from the Bible. I have just been accepted for ordination training. I’m very daunted. I’m pretty overwhelmed. I have done some big jobs in the past but this is the biggest of them all.'
