Man's arrogance always leads to self-defeating destruction, but here God's judgement is part of that destruction - which is a hard thing to hear ... what world view do we have that really accepts God as bring judgement when man rebels. Yet in life we see the consequence of arrogance - it's awful, and we see the fruit of lives that walk in the light of the Lord - peace, reconciliation, the poor are cared for, so what is this telling us that we don't already know? The role of God's splendour and glory is mentioned here, but I wonder if it will come up again - in my experience it has the power to transform hearts. It's all very well to say 'walk like this', but doesn't that require a change in our hearts even before our practise?

When we don't know how to live right or see that justice is done, our prayer is ignored and judgement will come on us and our society. Be saved by turning to God, doing right, and showing justice.
