Bible Society statement on the cancellation of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Author: Bible Society, 17 March 2020

We completely understand the need to cancel this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the wake of the coronavirus. We’re obviously very disappointed that the beautiful Psalm 23 Garden, designed by Sarah Eberle, won’t be seen by millions of people.

The Psalm talks about God being with us in every moment of life. We hope that this Psalm will provide comfort for those affected by the coronavirus at this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

We are looking forward to bringing the garden back to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show next year/later this year.

The aim of this garden all along was to inspire people to create community gardens which use four key elements from the Psalm 23 Garden: water, a tree, meadow planting and seating.

We’d really encourage communities, schools and churches to seize this opportunity, to look ahead to a time after the coronavirus and to create their own Psalm 23 Garden-inspired community plots. Download our easy, step-by-step guides on how to do this.
