My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘My husband, Brian, had a tumour in his brain that was giving him seizures. It had been growing for years, but when he had a ten-hour operation to remove it, it was the size of a lemon. He was in hospital for a long time afterwards because of Covid.
‘When he came home, he was really only half aware. He was in a coma a lot of the time. It was a dreadful time. I wasn’t sleeping.
‘One evening I read the story of Jairus’ daughter being raised from the dead from Mark 5.21. Afterwards, I came into the living room and looked out of the window and cried and cried to God. I said, “We know that you raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead. I know that we are in your hands Lord and that there will be a time when Brian comes to you, but if possible, please bring him through and help me. It’s torture for me.”
‘It was the first time that I had cried. When I finished speaking to God, I had a tremendous sense of peace envelop me. It was just amazing.
‘I was so sure from reading this story that God could do this. It’s two or three years ago now. Brian has gradually improved. He’s able to talk and move and do things reasonably well.
‘This experience has strengthened my faith. We have been given extra time.’

Hebrews 11.1–6 has kind of shaped my life
In 2022, my dad was diagnosed with cancer.
Whenever I get confused, or my faith seems to be wavering, the passage that I remember is in John 4
I was about 19. Somebody had given me a book about people’s testimonies.
