Gomer

The eldest son of Japheth mentioned in Genesis 10.2-3. Also the name of the wife of Hosea with whom he has three children (Jezreel, Lo-Ruhamah and Lo-Ammi), Gomer is said to be unfaithful to Hosea and Hosea is instructed by God to take her back. This is a metaphor for the relationship between God and the people of Israel.
