God-fearer

A Gentile who was attracted to Judaism, particularly to the Torah and to the worship of God in the temple, but who had not (yet) been circumcised. Some God-fearers were circumcised; others remained a God-fearers for ever. Some scholars think that Luke might have been a God-fearer because of his extensive knowledge of the Old Testament in both Greek and Hebrew.
