Paul’s story

Author: Andy Knight, 22 August 2019

‘I had a breakdown. I had come to the point where I was ready to take my own life. I couldn’t cope any more.

‘I believe in the importance of the local church and so I was going to the Elim church locally and the pastor was a very good teacher. One day he shared his thoughts on Psalm 23. Given that my mental stability wasn’t great, I locked on to the point where he said, “He restores my soul."

‘I held onto that: the fact that the creator of the universe restores my soul, he holds all my marbles. I seriously mean that. He gives me a firm place to stand.

‘I’m not afraid that I will kill myself any longer, or that life will kill me either. I feel God’s goodness and faithfulness every day.’
