Dave’s story

Author: Hazel Southam, 22 August 2019

‘I’m a season-ticket supporter at West Bromwich Albion. You are born a fan, you don’t become one. My Dad used to take me in the Sixties. Now, I take my grandson.

The Lord’s my shepherd(Psalm 23) is what they sing whenever Albion score a goal. That’s what all the fans sing.

‘It’s one of the most uplifting psalms in the world. Recently, when we got taken over by the Chinese they put the first couple of verses around the ground underneath the bulwarks. If you went to West Bromwich Albion, you would see the first couple of verses.

‘It feels wonderful when everyone sings Psalm 23. I love it. I can really meet God on those terraces.’
