A dozen teenagers in Kilbride, Northern Ireland, have spent four weeks learning about Psalm 23 through our schools’ resources.
‘I wanted them to learn Psalm 23 and understand a wee bit about it,’ said the Sunday School leader of Kilbride Presbyterian Church, Melanie Bowden. ‘It is very short, but there is so much in it.
‘It applies to so many parts of their lives. If you learn that when you are young, it should maybe stay with them,’ she added.
The teenagers, who meet every week on Zoom, did lots of activities including their own Scavenger Psalm 23 Garden, made from things they found at home or in their gardens.
‘They thoroughly enjoyed it,’ said Melanie. ‘At school everyone is streamed according to their academic ability. But we had 12 young people with a variety of abilities. That was brilliant. That captured how God loves everybody no matter what they have or don’t have.
‘I hope that learning the psalm will be a support for them for the rest of their lives, when they need it, in the good times and the bad.’
