My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘When I was 19 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. There was pain, but I got on with my life. In 2016, I was diagnosed with ME and from there my life was tough, because I couldn’t work full-time.
‘Shortly after that, I came across this passage from Exodus 14.14, “The Lord will fight for you: you need only to be still.” That meant a lot, because I realised that I had to let God into this and not do it on my own.
‘At that time, I just took it as hope. My health has got worse: I had a fall that led to me breaking my coccyx, and Covid. I had to resign from my job a month ago and am on Universal Credit.
‘But in all that God has been so good. I’d heard horror stories about Universal Credit, but I heard within 24 hours what was happening. I can’t do a job, but I can do things with church. I can serve God where I am at.
‘I see God’s presence in little wins: in getting Universal Credit, in getting appointments quickly, in receiving a Blue Badge for my car.
‘There are some days when nothing can help. So, I have had Exodus 14.14 tattooed on my ankle. I can see it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I always see it and remember what God has done in that day.’
