My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘Two years ago, I was quite fit for my age. I had been running for 60 years, although I was reduced to doing Parkrun and didn’t do races any more. Then I started having problems with my balance. I had tingling in my legs and tremors in my body. It’s the kind of thing that people with MS or Parkinson’s get, but it wasn’t either of those.
‘I couldn’t run any more because my legs cramped up. Over the years, I’ve seen neurologists and they don’t know what it is, so it’s just frustrating. I fall over occasionally, which is embarrassing.
‘Soon after this started happening, I read Isaiah 40.31, “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
‘When I first saw it, I thought it was terrific. I thought it was the Lord saying that I was going to be healed, but now I think it’s not. I feel like God has heard my prayers and that healing doesn’t matter. I feel fine about that really. I know I must stop praying for myself now and pray for others. That’s where I need to be concentrating my prayers. This verse has helped me to cope with the situation.’

Hebrews 11.1–6 has kind of shaped my life
In 2022, my dad was diagnosed with cancer.
Whenever I get confused, or my faith seems to be wavering, the passage that I remember is in John 4
I was about 19. Somebody had given me a book about people’s testimonies.
