My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
'In John 10.10, Jesus talks about why he came. He says that he came to give us "life, life in all its fullness". That’s very, very important to me.
I was not brought up as a Christian. My parents were anti, if anything. It wasn’t until I was 33 that I asked my husband if he would go to church with me.
We had been married several years and we wanted a family. Like a lot of people, I turned to God in a crisis and it was a crisis. We went to the Baptist church and the pastor talked about us being separated from God because of our sin. I thought I was basically a good person.
He said sin was anger, bitterness, jealousy and I thought, “Oh no, I’m a sinner.” It was a revelation. Then it clicked that God was my Father. So, I said, “You are all knowing and you know why I am here. I have come for a child thank you very much.”
Within three months we had adopted a little girl called Mandy. In the December of that year we had a lad come for Christmas, to be fostered, and he never went back. That’s Paul. And the following year we adopted another little girl called Lorraine. I have three children and 10 grandchildren. I have life in all its fullness, abundant life.'
