My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘When my second son, Daniel, was born, he wasn’t breathing. He was completely grey. The umbilical cord was around his neck. There was no cry. There was no sense of anything. It was a deadly silence, a nothingness.
‘I had a not-breathing child and a wife who was cut open. It was a horrible moment in my life. I prayed more then than I have ever prayed. I prayed for the nurses. I prayed for Sue. I prayed for Daniel.
‘Then, I heard a cry. It was the most joyful noise in the world. Daniel breathed. He made a noise, and then great, he weed all over everyone! It was beautiful.
‘The Daniel and the Lion’s Den story from the Bible says to me that when you are thinking that you are in the lion’s den, whatever the context, turn for help, for support, turn to prayer. Stop and pray like you have never prayed before. Then put your situation in the hands of Jesus.
‘That’s true whether you’re facing exams, or a job interview, or the situation that we were in. Daniel is ten now. But that moment is like yesterday for me. It still makes me come out in goose bumps to think of it.’
