My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
'When I was six or seven years old, I used to like staying with my great aunt. She had an embroidery on the wall, decorated with lovely roses, lilies and anemones. It was 1 Peter 5.7, ‘Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you’. I’m a very visual person. I learn by looking. As I child, I always believed what that verse said.
'Some of my friends don’t know how to read the Bible on their own. So, during lockdown, I thought I would do an online Bible study. I started with 1 Peter. Jesus told Peter to feed his sheep and I thought I would do the same. I thought it would be a good book to look at.
'I did a small video every day for a couple of weeks. I wanted to encourage people, because I have always found the Bible to be an amazing source of comfort and I wanted other people to know how to access that and not to be scared of accessing it. I’ve had really good feedback. People have found it encouraging.
'This book has a golden thread of hope in suffering, running through it. That verse gives me real peace. All this coronavirus thing doesn’t worry me, because I trust in God that he’s with me.'
