My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘In school there’s lots of peer pressure to do things. But as a Christian you can come across as uncool if you don’t disrespect the teachers and things like that. Some people just want to fit in. I’ve been able to learn that that doesn’t matter.
‘I come from Nigeria, so I know that porn, sex and drugs are a pressure for people at my age. But I don’t see these things as a temptation. I know the side-effects. I’m well-educated in my Christian faith.
‘I like Philippians. My most favourite verse is Philippians 1.21 which says, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” I like this because it’s so incredible that someone who had killed Christians could say this. Paul was cool with the fact that if he died it would be gain. For me, that means that God’s love is so great that we just can’t imagine it.
‘It helps me when I think of it. I don’t think about that verse every day, but I have got to know it and it has changed my perspective.’
