My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

'I’m in my second year studying maths and physics at Durham. I came home at the end of the second term, and didn’t go back. We had to move pretty quickly to get me home. I’m going back in September, or early October, but my classes will mostly be online. It will be different, but I think it’s nice, because I should be physically there. It’s a new normal.

'I’ve finished my exams, and so I’ve been reading the Bible quite a bit. I’ve definitely had more time to be able to do that. Before, I could read it one day and think it was really good and other days I didn’t read it. This time has helped me get more consistent in reading the Bible.

'The main thing I’ve realised through reading the Bible, is how God’s plan has been woven through history and is still working today. I was reading Romans and then went back to Exodus, and it’s been really good to have a fresh perspective on what God’s character is. It’s unchanging. So, in this uncertain time, I know that God is going to work in it. I’ve heard from my friends in Durham, that God has been speaking to them. It’s exciting to hear that God is working in this time.

'Reading the Bible has helped me to keep a level head. I’m not worried. There are still challenges and fears that I have, but there isn’t any reason to fear. It’s helped me to see that there is no reason to fear. We have our hope on a really strong foundation, so I don’t really worry.'
