My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

‘I work part-time. I cover the childcare costs, which are expensive. But recently, I was trying to work more hours because I needed more income. I was asked if I wanted to do the children’s work for my church. I’ve got two children, but that’s not my world.

‘So, I googled “Bible and children”. Remembering passages from the Bible doesn’t come naturally to me. There were ten different things, but the one I remember was from Romans 10.14. It says, “But how can they call to him for help if they have not believed? And how can they believe if they have not heard the message? And how can they hear if the message is not proclaimed?”

‘I read it and thought, OK, right. Someone needs to do this role and I can do it. I’ll have a go. It feels like my responsibility. It challenges my faith. I don’t know the Bible very well, but I will be learning at the same time as the children.

‘The children are the lifeblood of the church. When we are gone, who will carry on if not them? That’s my motivation.’
