Reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
Rhesymau i gredu ym mhŵer y Beibl
'I work in an acute medical ward in a hospital in Scotland. Normally we are very busy. We have had some Covid cases. We have also had some patients who are quite poorly. We’ve had patients, elderly patients, who are dying. We have a strong belief about the presence of relatives when people are dying, but that’s not been allowed. We’ve used social media so that relatives can see them. But it’s been quite difficult.
'I work a lot with palliative care and I have strong views on what people remember. They remember what upset them. As a nurse, I try to make sure that the little details are right for people, and that’s been hard.
'Many years ago, I lost a child. The scriptures that came to me then – Psalm 91 and Psalm 31 – have meant even more to me now. In Psalm 31, there’s a line that says, ‘I am always in your care’. That sums up, at the moment, how I am situated. I know God cares for me in a minute way, and therefore I must rest in his hope. I haven’t to fear.
'Reassurance is a big part of nursing. Your attitude has to be tempered with a deep security, and a deep sense that you are there for them. That’s the art of nursing, compassion. There’s a lot of fear in the world right, now, but I know that, through Him, I needn’t be scared.'
'Rwy'n gweithio mewn ward feddygol lem mewn ysbyty yn yr Alban. Fel rheol rydyn ni'n brysur iawn. Rydym wedi cael rhai achosion Covid. Rydym hefyd wedi cael rhai cleifion sy'n eithaf gwael. Rydyn ni wedi cael cleifion, cleifion oedrannus, sy'n marw. Mae gennym gred gref am bresenoldeb perthnasau pan fydd pobl yn marw, ond ni chaniateir hynny. Rydyn ni wedi bod yn defnyddio cyfryngau cymdeithasol fel bod perthnasau yn gallu eu gweld. Ond mae wedi bod yn eithaf anodd.
Rwy'n gweithio llawer gyda gofal lliniarol ac mae gen i farn gref ar yr hyn mae pobl yn ei gofio. Maen nhw'n cofio beth oedd yn eu cynhyrfu. Fel nyrs, rwy’n ceisio sicrhau bod y manylion bychain yn eu lle i bobl, ac mae hynny wedi bod yn anodd.
Flynyddoedd lawer yn ôl, collais blentyn. Mae'r ysgrythurau a ddaeth ataf bryd hynny - Salm 91 a Salm 31 - wedi golygu mwy fyth i mi nawr. Yn Salm 31, mae yna linell sy’n dweud, ‘Dw i'n dy ddwylo di’. Mae hynny'n crynhoi, ar hyn o bryd, fy sefyllfa i. Rwy'n gwybod bod Duw yn gofalu amdanaf yn fanwl, ac felly mae'n rhaid i mi orffwys yn ei obaith. Does dim rhaid i mi ofni.
Mae tawelwch meddwl yn rhan fawr o nyrsio. Rhaid i'ch agwedd gael ei thymheru â sicrwydd dwfn, ac ymdeimlad dwfn eich bod chi yno iddyn nhw. Dyna'r grefft o nyrsio, tosturi. Mae yna lawer o ofn yn y byd ar hyn o bryd, ond dwi'n gwybod, trwyddo Ef, nid oes angen i mi fod ag ofn'.
