Reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

'I lived in Kenya for a few years and in 2016 I came back to live in England. I didn’t have anywhere to stay. I wasn’t that happy to be back. My job in Kenya had ended. I was in a relationship that had ended. My business in Kenya had ended too. I wasn’t in a good place. I’m normally upbeat. But I was at the lowest that I have been in my whole life. I started listening to a Bible app every day. I find reading the Bible hard. But I love listening to the word of God. I could listen all day. Listening made it come alive for me. I went from Genesis to Revelation in a couple of months. I would listen on the way to work on the bus and in bed as I was falling asleep. It helped me to hear Jesus. I really felt that he was talking to me. It gave me hope and encouragement at a time when I didn’t have much hope. Elijah is one of my favourites. He’s so brave, but he’s a coward too. He’s human. That encouraged me, because I’m so flawed. As I read, I felt that God was with me every step of the way. It made me stronger and made me get on with my life. As I listened on the bus I’d be seeing people from all walks of life get on and off the bus and I’d be listening to the Bible. It was talking about the people I was seeing. That would then cause me to pray for them. One day I saw a boy who looked like my son. I asked him if he was sitting exams. He was. I told him I’d pray for him. Listening to the Bible gave me the boldness to talk to people like that, because I had the word of God in my head.'
