My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘I like being 14. It is pretty chilled. But school is a pressure. My GCSE mocks are coming up and there’s a lot of studying in that. That’s the biggest thing in my life. I feel like I should be worried. I know I should do more revision. That’s a constant pressure.
‘My favourite passage from the Bible at the moment is Ezekiel 47.1–12 which is about the stream flowing from the temple. Verse 9 says that “wherever it flows, it will bring life”. I find that really calming.
‘I was in church once and I had this picture from God. It was a golden aqueduct with a blue butterfly flying over it. I had no clue what it meant. I was so freaked out. But I asked God to help me understand it, and I read these verses. I saw that God is the water in the aqueduct and that he will bring life. I’ve drawn it in my Bible now. I feel like I have found the meaning that I was looking for.
‘I love nature and I love walking down to the canal near my house. It’s very peaceful. Most of the time I walk to the canal and I read these verses. It’s a special little joy.’
