My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘A group of us started, and ran for 30 years, an independent, interdenominational Bible college in Cambridge. It was an amazing experience of the Lord’s guiding and provision.
We had nothing earthly, but the Lord guided us and provided a house, funds and students, everything. When we were first getting the house organised, we were given quite a lot of furniture, including a carved board that said, “Our God has let us see his glory and his greatness” from Deuteronomy 5.
That was the theme of our experience right through the running of the college. We felt that we had God’s backing to what we were doing. It was encouraging. I wanted to teach the Bible because we wanted to enable people to serve the Lord in whatever way he called them. N
ow, we have a group reading Bible notes in the benefice. I like to keep up with what everyone is doing. Otherwise, it’s about whatever sparks something in me from the Bible. I read it last thing at night, and in the kitchen. God speaks through the Bible in different situations and it’s something that we can all take to ourselves and pass on to others.’
