Qumran

An archaeological site (often known as Khirbet Qumran) on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea. It comprises a series of caves in which were found a remarkable collection of manuscripts of texts, both biblical and otherwise, as well as the remains of a nearby community. The discoveries found at Khirbet Qumran were among the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century.
