Omri

The father of Ahab. He founded a short-lived dynasty which lasted around 50 years but which, nevertheless, brought to an end the almost constant civil war that had afflicted the Northern Kingdom since they split from the Southern Kingdom in 922 BC. Although not mentioned much in the Old Testament, contemporary sources suggest that Omri was a significant and much respected king.
