Herod Archelaus

A son of Herod the Great, Archelaus ruled over Judea from around 4 BC to AD 6. He was deposed in AD 6 at the request of his own people, partially due to his divorce and marriage to his brother's widow and partially due to his brutality. After AD 6 Judea was ruled by a Roman procurator.
