Deacons

A form of ministry that can be found in a wide range of churches today but which takes a different form from denomination to denomination. The term comes from the New Testament and from the Greek word diakonos which is often translated as servant but which might also have begun to be used to describe a role in the early church (e.g. Phoebe who was a deacon in the church of Cenchreae in Romans 16.1-2).
