Chaldeans

The people of Chladea, a Semitic nation between the tenth and sixth centuries BC which was later absorbed into Babylon during the time of the Babylonian empire. The Chaldeans were a highly educated nation and some think that when the name was used later (during the Persian empire) that it was used to described not an ethnic group but a class based educated group.
