Artemis

A Greek goddess, called Diana by the Romans, she was the goddess of the hunt and protector of young girls. The Artemis mentioned in Acts, however, was a goddess local to Ephesus and different from the more widely known Artemis, she was a fertility goddess. The Ephesian temple was regarded as one of the wonders of the ancient world.
