Amorites

People who lived in the highlands of Canaan around the area west and north of the Dead Sea who fought with the Israelites as they attempted to settle in the Promised Land. They are mentioned in Deuteronomy and Joshua though are reported to have been defeated by Joshua in 10.5 and 11.8 and are said to be living peacefully with the Israelites in 1 Samuel 7.14.
