Terms and Conditions

1. The promoter is the British & Foreign Bible Society (known as ‘Bible Society’) Charity no. 232759, whose registered office is at Stonehill Green, Westlea, Swindon SN5 7DG.

2. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO WIN.

3. You must be between 4 and 10 years of age on 31 July 2022 to enter this competition, subject to paragraph 4 below.

4. You must be a full time resident of the UK (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man).

5. Employees of Bible Society, their family members or anyone else connected with the Competition may not enter the Competition.

6. All entrants under the age of 16 must have their parents’ or guardians’ permission prior to entering the competition.

7. Entrants into the Competition shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

8. You must write a story based on a Bible verse about service. This could be a short written story, a poem, comic strip, picture or painting – although not a video or song. Please make sure it is your original work and is not plagiarised or uses copyright material. Your story must be no more than 500 words in length (and pictures not more than 1 side of A4).

9. Competition entries can be either in English or Welsh.

10. Entry shall be via email. By emailing entry you are accepting the terms and conditions

11. If submitting from a school it is the school’s responsibility to obtain a parent or guardian’s permission. Entries are permitted from individuals. 

12. The adult must also provide their own contact details when emailing in a submission.

13. Entry opens on 1st March 2022 and closes on 29th April 2022. No submissions will be considered outside this time frame.

14. Only one entry per person is permitted.

15. Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted about their entry and we will not be able to provide feedback about unsuccessful stories.

16. The entry must be the child’s original work. It must not infringe the rights of other parties. Bible Society does not accept responsibility if the Terms and Conditions are ignored.

17. Entries cannot contain obscene, blasphemous or defamatory language or images. Any such entries shall be automatically disqualified.

18. Entrants retain the copyright for their entry but grant Bible Society a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to post the entry online, publish and/or broadcast the story in whole or part as well as adapt, modify, translate or publish in any format.

19. Bible Society takes no responsibility for corrupted or late entries.

20. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

21. Bible Society reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these terms and conditions without notice.

22. Any changes to the Competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by Bible Society.

23. Winners will be chosen by a judging panel from Bible Society.

24. Bible Society’s decision on all matters relating to the Competition is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

25. Bible Society will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected from or delivered to.

26. The winner’s school or contact that is submitted will be notified by email and phone on or before the 1st June 2022. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 7 days of notification, Bible Society reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

27. The prize is as stated, no cash alternative to the prizes will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

28. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England. Any dispute should be addressed via direct contact in the first instance prior to initiation of any legal proceedings.

29.  Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants (as well as parent and/or guardian) will be used solely in relation to this competition and be consistent with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to any third party or used for any other purpose without the entrant’s prior consent.

30. The winner must be happy for their name, Key Stage, and region to be used for publicity purposes and announcing the winner.

31. The Bible Society accepts no liability in any form whatsoever in entering this competition except that liability which cannot be excluded by law.
