China's urgent Bible need is for more pastors.
It’s so encouraging to hear of a million people in China becoming Christians each year. But explosive growth has meant leaders are stretched to the limit. A single ordained pastor serves on average 6,700 Christians.
New believers need wise leaders. The Church might be growing, but Christians aren’t growing in their faith if they have no access to help. You can help train more ministers and support lay preachers.
As an unpaid lay preacher, Pastor Pu oversees eight churches comprising 2000 believers. It’s not easy. Every weekend he’ll walk miles to reach churches in remote, mountainous areas. Ordained pastors are scarce, and the Church depends on lay leaders like Pu, who takes inspiration from Philippians 3.8: ‘For his sake I have thrown everything away …’
You can provide training so more Christians can volunteer to serve their fellow believers.
With a gift of £28, you can provide a resource pack to a rural pastor. These leaders, like Pastor Pu, have thousands of believers to walk with. You can put a study Bible and another three books in their hands today to enrich their ministry.
£330 will send an unpaid lay preacher on a training course to give them the skills they need to serve their congregations. There are so many vulnerable new believers in China who need the support of a trained leader.
£6,000 sends a student to seminary for a full year. For every pastor you help train, as many as 80,000 Christians will benefit.
