Do you remember the terrible news reports of bombing, gas attacks and desperate refugees coming from Syria? Can you imagine seeing any good amongst that?

George Andrea leads our work in Syria. Amazingly, he has kept the Bible Society bookshop in Aleppo open every single working day of the conflict. In fact, we’re one of the few international agencies who’ve remained in Syria throughout the war.

Although half of Christians in Syria fled during the war, demand for the Bible is still increasing. When we asked George who was reading all these Bibles and New Testaments, he replied: ‘Isn’t it obvious? It’s everyone else. Those who belong to another religion are in search of the truth – and they find it in the Bible.’

His message is loud and clear: people in Syria are coming to faith in Jesus – and they need Bibles.

Will you help bring God’s word to the Middle East today?

‘The war has led people to Christ,’ George told us. ‘No one would have believed this when the conflict began! God has used events that people created for something good.’

All around the Middle East, people traumatised by war need Bibles, Sunday school teachers need Bibles, new believers need Bibles. Now is the time to bring God’s word to a devastated region, so people can heal, grow, love and hope.
