Bibles for Chinese Christians

This appeal is fully funded, please consider giving to these appeals:

The Church in China is still printing and distributing Bibles, despite strict regulation from the authorities on non-church and online bookstores. Please support the Church in China to print as many Bibles as possible through funding the required Bible paper.

In recent years, Bible paper funding has declined year after year, affecting the ability of the Church to print more Bibles for the millions of Chinese Christians. It is estimated that there is a huge total of 100 million Christians in China. In some places, many Christians still do not have a copy of the Bible because they cannot afford it. A gift of just £10 could provide Bibles for twelve new Chinese Christians.

Please pray for the Church in China and for vital Bible mission.

Xinnian’s story

Tang Xinnian became a Christian in her twenties, but 14 years ago her husband ripped up her one and only Bible, because he objected to her going to church. It was left ruined and unreadable; her one and only copy was destroyed.

‘Today I’m so happy to get a Bible! I’ve been a Christians for 20 years and was baptised recently, but I haven’t had a Bible for 14 years.’

Xinnian, a farmer and mother-of-two, is just one of millions of Christians in China to have lived life without a copy of Scripture. Last year she heard that our team were visiting a village near her home to hand out Bibles and she walked two hours across the countryside to the village to be there!

Xinnian managed to get a new Bible and was overjoyed. She said ‘Today I’m so happy to get a Bible! I’ve been a Christians for 20 years and was baptised recently, but I haven’t had a Bible for 14 years.’

In some places, many Christians still do not have a copy of the Bible because they cannot afford it.

Ready to start printing

The Chinese government have given, through the registered Church, for  Bibles to be printed. The Amity Printing Company in Nanjing, which is part owned by Bible Society, is primed to respond to this opportunity.

Just £10 could provide new Bibles for ten Chinese Christians.

The printing presses are ready to roll – with the capacity to print almost 50 Bibles every minute. It’s only the paper that’s missing – paper that costs a mere 80p per Bible. Just £8 could provide new Bibles for ten Chinese Christians. Will you join us today in bringing joy to believers in China by giving them the gift of the Bible?
