Training vs Trying

This month has been amazing for British sport. We've seen the Lions beating Australia, Andy Murray's historic win at Wimbledon and yesterday we won the first test in the Ashes series!

What's true of all sports people, whether rugby internationals, tennis pros or cricketers is their commitment to training. To play sports at top level, or learn an instrument or a language, requires training – small practice steps to reach a long-term goal.

What is true both physically and intellectually also applies spiritually and to our life with God. Authentic transformation is really possible – not by trying harder, but by training. This is why lyfe is committed to providing a variety of exercises and activities at the end of each small group session, which can really help us train for a deeper life with God. Spiritual practices are training exercises in prayer, Scripture, compassion (etc.) to help us to live in the Kingdom of God today.
