Kai Rae, a subsistence farmer in east Cambodia, has been a Christian for 14 years. She’s a faithful disciple of Jesus. But she’s never read God’s Word for herself – because she’s illiterate.
Kai Rae longs to learn how to read, so she can delve into the Bible and get closer to God.
You could answer her prayer. It will cost just £8 to teach her to read.
‘I want so much, so much, so much to read the Bible,’ she says. ‘Please pray that I will learn to read, so that I will be able to read the Bible, understand its meaning, and take it with me wherever I go.’
When three of her children became sick, Kai Rae told herself she had to trust God they would not die. As each of them recovered, Kai Rae’s dependence on God deepened. She knew God was her provider.
Since then, Kai Rae has faithfully gone to church and listened to the Word of God being explained through the sermon. But Kai Rae is poor, and has never had the opportunity to learn to read or write. She’s never been able to meditate on God’s Word for herself.
Kai Rae knows that the New Testament is being translated into the Bunong language of her community – so she’s desperate to learn to read.
A gift today could teach Kai Rae – and unlock God’s Word for her.
‘For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.’
