How to volunteer

how to volunteerPeople like you are needed in the fight against Bible poverty. Just a little of your time, energy and action can make a real contribution.

Church Representatives
Church Representatives make sure Bible poverty is on the agenda of your own church and, if you wish, nearby churches too. You -

  • Share the latest news and resources.
  • Encourage prayer and co-ordinate action and events, especially Bible Sunday.
  • Receive regular updates and information, including our supporter magazine Word In Action and Prayer Bulletin.
  • Are Linked with other Church Representatives in your area and are invited to events that keep you up to date with our mission.

Local Representatives
Local Representatives supplement the role of our Regional Managers. You -

  • Help local clergy understand Bible need, the resources available and what is being done locally.
  • Speak on behalf of Bible Society at arranged meetings and church services and events.
  • Link with your local Action Group (if applicable).
  • Contribute between 5 and 15 hours per month.
  • Receive training, have your expenses covered and are supported by your Bible Society Regional Manager.

Speakers
Our volunteer Speakers bring the inspiration of the Bible and share its need at meetings and church services. You -

  • Share Bible Society's vision with church leaders and members, speaking on our behalf at meetings and in church services.
  • Receive training and expenses.
  • Are supported by the Regional Manager and Bible Society staff on an individual basis.

Action Groups
Over 300 Action Groups across England and Wales are helping generate funds and prayer in the fight against Bible poverty.

Action Groups are a vital link between Bible Society and the churches in their area. They -

  • Represent the churches of the area.
  • Organise fundraising events.
  • Champion the cause of Bible Society’s mission among local church leaders and church treasurers.
