The Bible on audio can touch the lives of an entire community desperate to hear God’s voice. Please help.
Ruth Rutegetski loves the Bible. But she can’t read it.
In fact, about half the people you’d meet in Ruth’s village of Gikondo, in Rwanda, would tell you that they’ve never learned to read or write, either. Just like vast swathes of the whole of Africa.
And that’s why your response to this appeal matters so much. Because even though they are poor, even though they cannot read, people like Ruth can have the Bible in their lives. Here’s how:
Gikondo has a Bible listening group which meets every Tuesday morning in the coolness and calm of its small church.
There, Ruth and her friends listen to the Bible on a solar-powered audio player called the Proclaimer. It costs just £40, and came from Bible Society fully-installed with the Bible message in their heart language of Kinyarwanda.
That’s £40 to reach 30 people, often more, with the Bible’s life-transforming message. And it’s not just Ruth’s group that’s hearing God’s Word in this way.
In fact, as you read this, the Bible on audio is literally sweeping through village after village, nation after nation. Tens of thousands of people across Africa are realising that the Bible is theirs – because they are hearing it in their own language.
And nowhere in Africa is this more evident than in Tanzania. Here, an amazing 76,000 men, women and children – people just like Ruth – are part of 3,095 listening groups.
And the demand for these listening groups is growing rapidly. Last year alone, the numbers doubled. This year, they could treble.
But countless remote communities still wait. That’s why your help is urgently needed to provide every listening group with a Proclaimer of its own.
Just £40 will make that happen. Please help if you possibly can by making your donation now.
Thank you.
