Faith at their fingertips: Braille Bibles

We need your gift to put blind and partially-sighted people in touch with God’s Word for the very first time. Help us meet this desperate need today, by providing Bibles in Braille.

Too many people are missing out on the life-changing encounter with his Word, simply because they are blind. They live in the double darkness of a sightlessness which prevents them from reading the life-giving Scriptures for themselves. Your gift can change this.

Bible Society is working to provide Braille Bibles for blind and partially-sighted people. But the reality is that printing Braille Bibles is expensive. It costs £350 to print each one – a complete copy can run to as many as fifty volumes.

We will reach many more people with these Braille Bibles by placing them in schools and community centres. This will enable blind or partially-sighted people to meet together and study the revelation of God’s Word in Braille. We are also trialling the use of audio recordings to find out what works best in different settings.

Joyce's Amazing Story

Joyce is a woman with an amazing story. As a young blind person in the Philippines, she faced a life of isolation and despair because the Scriptures were not available in a format she could access. Then, when she was a teenager, she got the opportunity to read the Bible in Braille. It was a life-changing encounter.

‘I found happiness,’ she said, ‘I found Christ.’

Thanks to the Braille Bible, her blindness cannot hold her back any more. Now she ministers through her work at a radio station for the blind and as an assistant pastor in her local church.

Her life was transformed by the encounter with a Braille Bible. She said, ‘I pray you will support us more and more, so that more blind people will know the Lord.’

Your gift can help Joyce's story become that of many more blind and partially-sighted people across the world. Many feel held back because they lack a Bible they can read for themselves.
