Helpful hints

PDF Format

Downloading

To open the documents in PDF format you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you need to, you can install it for free from http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
Once you’ve installed it, just click on the relevant link to download the file.

If you are having problems downloading or you cannot see the icons mentioned below in relation to printing and text selection, it may be because you are running an older version of Acrobat. To download the latest version visit http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ (opens in a new window).

Alternatively, if you have trouble downloading or it is taking too long, you can save the document to your computer. To do this, put your mouse on the download link, right click and select ‘save target as’ or ‘save link as’. You can then save the file somewhere on your computer and then open it up through Adobe Reader.

Accessibility

A special Access Adobe website provides tools to convert files into a more accessible format. Visit www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/access_onlinetools.html

Cut and paste

You can copy and paste information from PDFs: click on the ‘text select’ tool within the Adobe Reader tool bar, click and select the required text using the mouse, ‘right-click’ and ‘copy’. You can then paste it into another programme. Please be aware that on some PDFs the ability to copy and paste is explicitly disabled (e.g. our product catalogues where price information needs to be fixed).

Printing

To print a PDF document, make sure you click on the print icon within the Adobe Reader tool bar rather than through File/print in the main window tool bar.

Microsoft Word Format

Downloading

You can either click on the link and open the file, or save the file to your computer. If you do not have Word on your computer, select the PDF version instead (see above).

Printing

To print a Word document, go to File on the toolbar and then select Print.

Microsoft PowerPoint Format

You will require PowerPoint to view any PowerPoint files.

If you do not have PowerPoint installed on your computer you can download PowerPoint viewer from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126492

If you are viewing this website on a mobile phone, you may not be able to view any Flash animations that we have. To check if your mobile phone has Flash capabilities, view the list at www.adobe.com/mobile/supported_devices/

If you are using a computer, you can download a Flash player from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
