Making the Bible available in patois

Patois recording

For five million Jamaicans, Patois is the language of the street and home, full of character and expression. But Patois speakers remain one of the largest language groups in the world without any Scripture. Now the Bible Society of the West Indies is working to change this through a controversial Bible translation project. Listen to extracts of the Bible in patois and find out more about this work at www.biblesociety.org.uk/jamaica

PRAYERS
Five years ago Ukraine experienced the Orange Revolution. Now its Bible Society has been given a ‘green light into all walks of life’, according to its General Secretary, Alexander Babiychuk. Currently, inflation and a shortage of funds threaten to stop their work. Please remember them in your prayers. Ask that God will help them realise their vision to make the Bible’s message available to their people.

(Good News Bible)

Bible Society exists to make the Bible heard. We aim to show how the Bible connects with life. We make Scriptures available where there are none and we work with the Church to help it live out the Bible’s message. We do this because Bible poverty is real. And fighting it matters.
