Please tell us what matters to you.
And so help combat Bible poverty.

How much do you care about the Bible? Does it matter
that God’s Word is not respected in our towns and cities?
That in places like China people are crying out for the Bible?

It only takes 5 minutes. So start right now.

The Bible and you

  I can say with confidence:

the Bible is important in my own life
I have a good grasp of the Bible's message
if there was a way to understand and apply the Bible better,   I'd like to know
the Bible has recently influenced one of my decisions
I use the Bible in teaching and helping others
I often use the Internet to look up Bible passages & resources
I have given a Bible as a gift
I would feel comfortable reading my Bible at work or in public

The Bible and our country

It seems that our country no longer looks to the Bible because:

the church has lost its confidence in the Bible
the news media presents a negative view of the Bible
schools no longer teach the Bible or tell Bible stories
Christians have problems relating the Bible to daily life
not enough Christians speak up about the Bible's relevance to daily life

The Bible and its influence

The best way to bring back the Bible's influence is to promote its values in:

the world of films, the arts and entertainment
the mass media - newspapers, television and radio
  schools and universities
the world of politics and government
  churches and Christian organisations

The Bible and global mission

Christians should make it their priority to respond to the problem that:

half the world's 6,912 languages lack even one book of the Bible
a billion people don't read, and so require the Bible in audio
only 35 languages have the whole Bible in Braille
a billion people are too poor to afford a Bible

The Bible and Church

  Churches and their leaders need:

more help to understand and apply the Bible to daily life
fresh resources to use the Bible effectively with young people
insights to help make the Bible's message more relevant to local communities

The Bible and your priorities

The Bible Society has limited funds to spend. Our priority should be:

to help the general public see the relevance of the Bible
to produce resources to help Christians understand and apply the Bible
to translate the Bible for those still waiting for God's written Word in their language
to shape attitudes to the Bible among those who influence our nation
to help Christians in poor countries afford the Bibles they long for
