Small changes

Because the ancient texts of the Bible were copied so often, there are now many thousands of manuscripts in existence. By comparing manuscripts from different eras it is possible to see the extent to which the text has remained broadly consistent over time.
In the case of the Old Testament, there has been little significant change to the text over thousands of years. Of the changes that have been made, many are no more than a word or phrase here or there.
With the New Testament, it’s much the same story. The changes that do exist are mostly over spelling, word order or minor details.
Bible fact
The number 40 is used many times in the Bible. It often means God is about to usher in a new event or era. For instances, rain during the flood lasted 40 days, spies explored Canaan for 40 days, Jonah warned Nineveh for 40 days, and Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days.
