Bibles for children

Bibles For ChildrenAcross the world there are dark corners where children suffer. Where hungry boys and girls beg for scraps. Where paedophiles prey. Where bombs rain down.

As well as physical help and protection these children also need to hear the Bible’s good news and to discover their part in it.
Bible Society works with Christian agencies committed to making life better for these children. They engage in social action. And we come alongside to offer children comfort and hope that only the Bible can bring.

1,000 Bibles to an organisation called Jenga

Happy with their BiblesIn Uganda, Bible Society supporters have helped deliver more than 1,000 Bibles to an organisation called Jenga, which uses Youth Alpha in its Bible clubs.

These Bibles are now in the hands of 12 to 18-year-olds - and organisers say it's caused a 'spiritual revolution'.

Our focus is on providing colourful Scripture Portions or a full Children’s Bible. Typical of those receiving them are:
  • Poor and orphaned children in Honduras.
  • Traumatised victims of child abuse in Zimbabwe.
  • Anxious children in Palestine, who live with danger every day.

Where possible we link our work with summer camps run by local churches – so children can have fun together as they discover God’s love.

From drugs and worse to a life with God

Michael NunezFor 7 year-old Michael, forced to live with his drug-dealing uncle in San Jose, Costa Rica, there were no hugs or bedtime stories. Instead, he was sucked into a downward spiral of prostitution and cocaine addiction.

If ever a child needed to know the comfort and unconditional love of the God of the Bible, it was Michael. And, as a teenager, he found it at a Christian centre where he was offered food, a shower, some schooling – and a Bible provided by Bible Society.

With the Bible as his guide, Michael wrestled free of drugs and is training to be a mechanic – his life full of the joy of God’s love.
